 When my aunt passed away in June of 2022, I was the person solely responsible for handling her final arrangements, as well as dealing with what was left behind. This included my late grandparent's home, which had been in my family since 1976. My aunt and her then 42 year-old son with special needs had moved in many years ago to care for my grandmother until the time of her death in 2019. When they moved in, they brought a lot of "stuff" with them, on top of very sentimental things, household items, and other "stuff" that my grandparents had accumulated through the years. I realized that I was faced with not only becoming the caregiver for my cousin but also in dealing with cleaning out the house and figuring out what to do with the "stuff" and with the house.
 

When I first walked into the house after my aunt died, I was reminded that she was a pre-hoarder, and the house, that was once so vibrant with family dinners and gatherings, was empty...but at the same time overwhelmingly full. I immediately called Crystal and asked if she would help me through the "process", and she didn't hesitate to accept the job. And it was a challenge. We not only had to clean out the "stuff", which was a very long process, because I didn't have the mindset to "just go in, rent a dumpster and throw it all out," as so many people had advised me to do. This house was a family home, and some of the "stuff" meant something to me, and, people who are in need might actually be able to use some of it. So we went through papers and memorabilia and keepsakes and trash and decided what to do with each thing. I kept some things, I gave things to friends and family and I donated. Once the house was completely emptied out, it was time to clean up...which entailed washing down walls filled with years of nicotine from cigarette smoke, to prepare for fresh paint and cleaning the floors. Crystal also was there nearly every day helping me with the painting and finishing touches as well. For me, this happened over the course of several months and one of the many things I love about working with Crystal is her ability to meet you where you are and to be whatever support you need through something like this. If you want to just go in and go fast, she can do it. If you want to take a slower, more methodical approach or anywhere in between, she can do it. At the end of the day, I decided to sell the home, and everything we did, not only made it its best for being on the market, but it also set the stage for a new family to enter and to be able to see a clean slate for starting and building their own family memories there.
 

Crystal has helped me with so many organization projects around my own home, including general cleaning and organizing and a major overhaul of my garage. Over the years, she has become a great friend and really a part of our family. One of the foundational principles that is important through these projects is TRUST, and I trust her with my home and the things that are most important to me in it. I would recommend her to anyone who needs help with any kind of cleaning, organizing and even other "life support" projects.
